Russetwhisker pelted through the thick undergrowth, grabbing a mouse in her paws right before it slipped into a hole. She hissed at the small grey being, as if the rodent had caused all of her problems. The Plague and the War had killed her family, destroyed her life, and left her with Mousestar. Alone. She flung the mouse into the air and caught its carcass in her jaws. Finally, some fresh-kill for her... She stopped the train of thought. Russetwhisker knew she was going to think Clan, but that would break the dam keeping her horrible memories at bay. Padding back to camp, Russetwhisker dug up her three other pieces of prey. Carrying them into camp, she dropped them on the fresh-kill pile and lay down in the clearing with a small finch. She didn't mind Mousestar, admired her, but she'd never say that to her face. She purred as she imagined Mousestar having to help out and do apprentice jobs. Somehow, she couldn't see the regal leader gather moss for... Dead elders. There were no grumpy, old cats to gather moss for. She sighed and finished off her mouse, smelling Mousestar's scent in the air. She waited, wondering if the ThunderClan leader would make an entrance.
She remembered with a jolt that she was older than the leader- Apparently, EchoStar had though young blood would server the Clan well. Russetwhisker sighed and wondered if the youth of Mousestar had helped or hindered ThunderClan's victory- if one could call it a victory. So much warrior blood had been spilt, and Russetwhisker was ashamed that her own paws were stained with lifeblood of noble cats. The she-cat was lost in her memories and grief. She lay her head down on the soft earth and inside, she wept. The other Clans may be her rivals, but they were still friends, under the writhing mess of rules separating them. The leader hadn't made an entrance yet, and Russetwhisker wondered where she was.

Mousestar headed through the forest her mind awash with grief. She had brought two pieces of prey. A shrew, and a thrush. The thrush had almost got away when Mousestar stepped on a twig. Thankfully it was so panicked that it had run right into a tree.
Mousestar hesitated at the entrance of camp and decided to wait there for a while until she could get control of her thoughts. She sat down and laid the prey at her paws trying her best not to think about her mate and kits. But as she tried her best not to think about them they became evermore present into her mind. So finally she started taking deep breaths and regulating her breathing so that she was breathing as if she was sleeping. And it worked! Mousestar finally had control of herself again.
Taking another deep breath she picked up her prey and entered the camp. The first thing she saw was Russetwhisker eating a finch. So without a word Mousestar deposited her thrush on the fresh-kill pile and went to join her with the shrew.

Russetwhisker noticed Mousestar padding towards her and waited until the leader lay down. "Is everything okay? You look..." Russetwhisker sighed and stopped herself. Of course not. The Clans were a wreck. The territories were being overrun with dangerous animals- badgers and foxes were becoming much more common. She continued to eat. "Anything I need to do, Mousestar?"

At Russetwhiskers inquiry Mousestar almost snapped at her. Then decided that Russetwhisker hadn't mean to be rude and so said nothing. "Anything I need to do, Mousestar?" Mousestar looked at her, sorrow evident in her eyes and said, "No nothing needs to be done. How can there be anything when there is just you and me still alive?"

"No nothing needs to be done. How can there be anything when there is just you and me still alive?"
At the sad replay, Russetwhisker sighed. Even Mousestar had felt the impact- her regal leader reduced to a leader of no Clan. Russetwhisker licked Mousestar's pelt, soothing her and trying to be as understanding as possible. "I suppose we shouldn't just stand around, though. Repairs? Anything?" She knew her leader would say no, but Russetwhisker had to do something to got over the grief of losing her family. Finishing up her meal, the she-cat stood and surveyed the camp. Dens were mostly intact, and the fresh-kill pile was stocked. Hmm... something? Anything?

"I suppose we shouldn't just stand around, though. Repairs? Anything?"
Mousestar sighed and didn't bother saying anything, she knew that Russetwhisker wouldn't listen. Sure enough Russetwhisker got up and surveyed the camp. Mousestar knew that she should do something but didn't want to. Suddenly she had an idea, "What if we stocked up on herbs? When our Medicine Cat comes back they will be happy." Mousestar suggested. She quickly finished her shrew, got up and headed towards the Medicine cat den.

"What if we stocked up on herbs? When our Medicine Cat comes back they will be happy."
Russetwhisker was confused for a moment. She didn't remember if the medicine cat had even made it out alive. The she remembered- all of the medicine cats had been on a journey during the huge war. She growled under her breath, and then ran out of camp to fetch some herbs.
Dashing through the forest, Russetwhisker kicked up leaves and dirt as she ran through the wood. She stopped as she reached a crystal clear pool. She sipped some of the water and then began to pull up herbs. Her sister had been a medicine cat apprentice before she had been killed by an enemy warrior- The SkyClan leader's brother. She hated SkyClan. Her sister, Blossompaw, had been moony-eyed over Willowstar's son, Nightpaw. She really didn't like the whole Willowstar family. She wondered how many SkyClan cats had survived. She made five trips with herbs, and then went out to patrol the borders. She stopped at the SkyClan border, staring across into the endless forest. Russetwhisker almost turned back to camp. "What are you looking for?" she scolded herself. The she saw a silver pelt.
(And just because why not. Nightpaw and Blossompaw)

Mousestar disappeared into the medicine cat den and took a deep breath of the herb scented air. Normally it was a wonderful fragrance area but today there seemed to be a rotting fragrance mixed in with the herbs. Mousestar decided to check the hollows for signs of rotting. The first hollow she opened told that she was right. Most herbs had rotted. Mousestar emptied the hollows of all rotting and shriveled leaves. Then she sorted the leaves that Russetwhisker brought from the forest. When she was done she went to find Russetwhisker. Mousestar found her staring into Skyclan territory. "What are you looking for?" Mousestar asked Russetwhisker.
(aw they look so cute together.)

(Eek I know right!)
"What are you looking for?"
Russetwhisker whirled around, and flattened her fur when she realized it was Mousestar. "Oh... um, nothing. I just needed a break from the memories of my favorite territory places." She hoped the silver cat hadn't left. She scanned the trees for a gray pelt, and noticed it between a birch and elm. Good. "Erm, Mousestar. You can go back to camp. I'm fine." She hoped that the ThunderClan leader would oblige. She needed to know who the other cat was.

"Oh... um, nothing. I just needed a break from the memories of my favorite territory places."
Mousestar knew that Russetwhisker Hated this area so obviously she wouldn't go here voluntary. But she knew better than to question her so instead she stood beside Russetwhisker, silent.
"Erm, Mousestar. You can go back to camp. I'm fine."
The leader sighed. Now she knew something was up. But she didn't protest. Instead she laid her tail on Russetwhisker's shoulder and said, understandingly, "If you need me I'll be in camp." Then she turned around and headed back to camp. She hoped that Russetwhisker would tell her what was wrong but knew that even if she didn't she would get over it.-eventually.

"If you need me I'll be in camp."
Russetwhisker sighed in relief as Mousestar left. She was glad that the leader cared, but this was something she needed to do on her own. Besides, it was probably against the warrior code. Summoning her courage, and ready to bottle surprise, she stepped across the border in the Clan she hated. "Hello?"
(sorry it's short.)

Flarestripe yowled in joy. The familiar trees of home surrounded her. She had been visiously kidnapped near shadow clan border by some foolish two legs. But now she had escaped their clutches and fled from the the wretched two-leg place. At last! The hollow came in sight of her bright blue eyes. "Mouse star!" She mewed loudly at the high rock. The familiar clan scents swirled around her. She gazed pitifully at the small fresh kill pile, which consisted of a scrawny squirrel and two mice. She sighed and leaped into the hollow. The warriors den was practically empty without her. But she smiled. "I'm home." Now she could eat real food instead of...delucious kitty pet food. Her mouth watered. Don't forget the warrior code! She chastened herself.

"Why are you here? I thought you'd never return!"
Russetwhisker was horrified to see it was Whisperflight. She writhed out from behind the she-cat and stood, shaking out her ruffled fur. "This isn't a time to remember vows, is it? The Clans are dying!" She sat, wrapping her tail around her paws. "Besides, I have a request for you. I need to go to the Moonpool, and Mousestar needs to be here. We can't abandon our territory." Whisperflight shifted uncomfortably, then asked a question.

Mousestar arrived at camp just as Flarestripe stuck her head into the warriors den. She was so shocked that at first she couldn't say anything. Then she shook herself mentally and said rejoicing, "Flarestripe nice to see you again." She paused and asked, "Where have you been?" Mousestar could smell Twoleg's on Flarestripe's fur, and wondered what had happened. Perhaps she had been attacked by some Kittypets.

Flarestripe grinned. "Mouse star!" She bounded over waving her tail in happiness. "Dirty two legs kidnapped me." She shook out her fur with disgust. "How's the clan faring?" She asked as she sat and curled her orange and black tail around her paws.
